Chicago Dough Company's Bourbonnais location has been recognized for its significant commitment to community service. In December, State Representative Jackie Haas (R–Kankakee) honored the restaurant as her December Local Business Spotlight, acknowledging its longstanding role as both a neighborhood staple and a community partner.
According to Representative Haas, she visited the Bourbonnais location and presented the owners with a certificate of appreciation, citing Chicago Dough’s deep roots in the community and its consistent support of local causes. Since opening on September 15, 1977, Chicago Dough has built a reputation not only for great food and service but also for giving back to the people it serves.
Now owned by Tim and Emma Gordon, who began acquiring ownership in 2018 and have since expanded their stake, the Bourbonnais restaurant employs more than 40 team members and is known for an exceptionally low staff turnover rate. One employee has been with the restaurant for over 27 years, which demonstrates the strong culture and respect the business shows its employees.
Chicago Dough's community involvement spans various local initiatives. These include a $1,000 donation to Project Headspace and Timing, sponsorship of Bourbonnais Little League and local softball teams, donations of pizza to the Jingle Bell Run 5K benefiting The Arthritis Foundation, and support of the Shop With a Cop program with the Kankakee Police Department.
"Chicago Dough has been a staple in our community since they opened their doors in 1977," Haas noted. "They work hard to support our community, provide delicious food, and ensure excellent service."
Located at 545 S. Main St. in Bourbonnais, Chicago Dough continues to demonstrate how local businesses can make a lasting impact through generosity, employee dedication, and community engagement.
